Attitudes of the Czech Public Towards Food Waste – Food 2022

Within the framework of the special research ‘Food 2022’, the Public Opinion Research Centre surveyed the attitudes of the Czech public towards food waste. Respondents were presented with 22 statements related to different dimensions of food waste and asked to decide on a five-point scale to what extent they agree or disagree with them.

Respondents most frequently (82%) agreed with the statement "during food preparation I take care to use everything possible". More than three-fifths (62%) of people agreed with the statement, "I have a bad conscience when I waste food". For two-thirds (66%), the appearance or smell of a particular food item is the deciding factor in whether or not to throw it away.
