In December survey the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on topic of the presidency of the European Union. The Czech Republic has assumed the presidency of the EU on 1 January 2009. Almost three fifths of Czech citizens (58 %) were at least partly interested in American presidential election. 53 % of Czechs were satisfied with its outcome, 33 % expressed an indifferent position that they are "neither satisfied nor dissatisfied" and only 4 % said out their dissatisfaction with Barack Obama's victory.
