Party Preferences and Voting Model in September 2010

In September survey CVVM investigated how people trust to political Parties and whether they are willing to take part in elections to Chamber of Deputies. In the press release there are two different types of information: Party preference and a model of voting behaviour.

Party preferences give us information about public sympathy with political Parties in the group of citizens who have voting right and there is also included a part of citizens who will not take part in elections or they do not knot who to vote for.

Public Opinion Research Centre of Institute of Sociology of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic compress the release term of primary data files. Since September 2010, primary data files from the continuous survey research project Our Society are free for non-commercial use two month after the fieldwork has been finished. The goal of release term compress is to make the datasets available quicker for all interested professionals, especially for researchers, and teachers.

Citizen's Views on Drugs

The survey of May touched briefly the issue of drugs and their use in the Czech Republic. People were asked whether and how much they perceive the current situation regarding drug use to be a problem in the Czech Republic as a country, and specifically in their place of residence. Furthermore, the survey investigated whether institutions in the Czech Republic deal with the drug problem adequately, inadequately or excessively in the view of the public.

Public Opinion on Rights of Homosexuals

In May 2010, CVVM survey focused on public opinion on rights of gays and lesbians such as right to get married, right for registered partnership and right for children adoption. As a part of this press release the answers were sorted according to socio-demographic indicators and according to answer on a question whether a respondent knows a gay or a lesbian personally.

Trust in European Union Institutions

In April 2010 Public Opinion Research Centre investigated trust in the European Union, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the President of the European Council and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Other two questions deal with the issue, whether Czechs believe, that decisions of the EU are in behalf of the Czech Republic and ordinary people (like themselves).

Public Opinion on Values Applied in the European Union and European Integration

In April 2010 CVVM investigated, whether, according to Czech citizens, values such as democracy, equality, cooperation, toleration, justice and solidarity are applied in the European Union. The largest proportion of Czechs answered on this subject positively in connection with democracy and cooperation (75 % and 63 %) and by contrast equality obtained least agreeing answers (37 %). Besides this, Czechs evaluated helpfulness and harmfulness of European integration in these areas - economy, politics, culture, country defence and ecology.

Tolerance to Different Social Groups

In March 2010 Public Opinion Research Centre focused on social distance among the major population and different social groups. Social distance was measured by a specific question: people should pick from a list of 15 different groups those, which they would not like to have as neighbours. The biggest distance was noticed towards drug addicts (86 % of Czechs would not want them to be their neighbours), people addicted to alcohol (79%), people with criminal past (75%) and also people with mental disease (60%).
