In the period from the end of July to the middle of the last decade of September 2023, a block of questions devoted to energy issues was included in the regular Our Society survey. There were several questions included in the survey, through which the opinions of the Czech public on some characteristics of sources used in the production of electricity were examined.
According to public opinion the most important characteristics of energy sources are whether they allow energy to be produced at a low price, whether they enable stable energy supplies and whether they enable safe operation of energy production.
In a direct deciding between the extent and price of energy supplies on the one hand and measures against climate change on the other, the Czech public leans slightly towards the side of measures against climate change.
The Czech public is mostly skeptical about the possibility of replacing coal, nuclear and especially gas power plants with the production of electricity from renewable sources within the next ten years.
