At the turn of May and June 2025, a block of questions focusing on the attitudes and perceptions of Czech society towards people with homosexual orientation was again included in the regular survey conducted by the Public Opinion Research Center of the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The survey examined opinions on selected rights of homosexual women and men, as well as the expected reaction of the respondent's social environment to a possible admission of homosexual orientation in their place of residence.
The right to enter into a registered partnership received the greatest public support, with more than four-fifths (85%) of respondents in favor. On the other hand, the right of homosexuals to marry received the least support, with less than two-thirds of respondents (64%) supporting it.
On average, support for the rights surveyed is more common among women, respondents aged 15–39, and people who have a homosexual friend or acquaintance.
The perception of Czech society's tolerance towards homosexuals was also assessed using a question focused on the reaction of the respondent's social environment. Almost two-thirds of respondents (62%) stated that, in their opinion, coming out as homosexual would not cause problems in their community.
Due to a change in the CVVM survey methodology, the results of the present survey are not directly comparable to the results of previous surveys. More information about the new methodology can be found in this press release.
