Why people enter politics

As a part of February survey made by CVVM there were some questions about public opinion of reasons why people enter communal politics and state politics. Survey proved that there are not big differences in reasons why people join communal or state politics. Positive answers outbalanced the negative ones.

When talking about communal politics most respondents agree that people join politics, because they want to decide important things.

More than four fifths of people think that people enter regional politics, because they want to establish some new contacts (84 % people agreed), they want to gain important positions or functions (83 %) and get social credit (82 %). To get an important position is the reason why people enter state politics according to most respondents (97 %). Also the reason that people join politics for money (94 %) and that people want to establish some new contacts (92 %) is supported by a lot of Czech citizens.
