Opinions on the Functioning of Democracy and Non-democratic Alternatives of the Political System - April/May 2024

Part of Public Opinion Research Centre survey in April and May were several questions concerning respondents' opinions on the functioning of democracy in the Czech Republic and non-democratic alternatives of political system.

More than half (55%) of respondents expressed satisfaction with the way democracy works in the Czech Republic, while more than two-fifths (43%) rated the functioning of democracy in our country critically.

More than half (54%) of Czech citizens believe that democracy is better than any other form of government. More than a quarter (27%) of respondents declared openness to the possibility of an authoritarian form of government, while another less than a fifth (17%) believe that it does not matter whether the country is ruled by a democratic or a non-democratic regime.
