In a survey conducted in the second half of March 2025, the Center for Public Opinion Research asked a set of questions about the conflict in Ukraine. The survey asked whether and to what extent the Czech public considers the situation in Ukraine to be a security threat to the Czech Republic, Europe and world peace, how the Czech public perceives the Czech government's actions towards Ukraine, which of the two scenarios for ending the conflict in Ukraine would be more acceptable from their point of view, and how they see possible measures by the international community.
A slightly more than seven out of ten citizens consider the situation in Ukraine a threat to world peace (74%) and European security (71%), while about two-thirds consider it a threat to the security of the Czech Republic (66%).
Almost half of the citizens (47%) agree with the government's actions in support of Ukraine, nearly a third (31%) disagree, and less than a fifth (19%) do not agree with either option and chose a middle answer.
The highest support among the selected options is for putting diplomatic pressure on Russia, which is supported by 77% of Czech citizens.
Three-fifths of Czech citizens (60%) are in favour of complete political and economic isolation of Russia.
Less than three-fifths of respondents (58%) support providing assistance to Ukraine in the form of military equipment.
More than half (55%) of respondents are in favour of providing financial assistance to Ukraine.
The possible deployment of troops to Ukraine for a peacekeeping mission is acceptable to less than half of the citizens (45%), while the opposite opinion was expressed by about two fifths (43%), of whom 22% rather do not support this option and 21% strongly do not support it.
Almost three quarters (71%) of citizens reject sending troops to Ukraine to fight.
Due to a change in the methodology of the CVVM surveys, the results of the survey are not directly comparable with the results of previous surveys.
