Opinions on refugees from Ukraine – November 2025

At the turn of October and November 2025, the Public Opinion Research Center conducted a survey on the attitudes of the Czech public towards the acceptance and integration of refugees from Ukraine into Czech society. Respondents specifically expressed their attitudes towards the acceptance of Ukrainian refugees in view of the possibility of their permanent settlement in the Czech Republic and their opinions on whether Ukrainian refugees are being successfully integrated into Czech society, as well as the extent of their contact with refugees from Ukraine. The survey also included mapping interest in current developments related to this situation.

Less than two-fifths (38%) of Czech citizens are interested in developments surrounding refugees from Ukraine.
Almost a quarter (23%) of citizens are in favor of allowing Ukrainian refugees to settle permanently here, while another six-tenths (60%) prefer only temporary acceptance with subsequent return to their country of origin.
The prevailing opinion is that the Czech Republic has accepted more refugees from Ukraine than the country can handle (47%). Of this proportion, almost a quarter (23%) think that we have accepted far more refugees, and a similar proportion (24%) believe that we have accepted slightly more refugees than the Czech Republic can handle. However, there is also a significant proportion of the population who believe that the number of refugees in the Czech Republic is reasonable (40%).
A majority of the population is convinced that Ukrainian refugees are being successfully integrated into our society (61%).
We most often encounter refugees from Ukraine in public places, which is true for the vast majority of Czechs (88%). Approximately a quarter of the population has these refugees among their colleagues, friends, or their children's classmates.

Due to a change in the CVVM survey methodology, the results of the present survey are not directly comparable to the results of previous surveys. More information about the new methodology can be found in this press release.
