Financial Crisis In View Of Czech Public - December 2009

According to December survey 75 % of Czechs think that economic situation of the Czech Republic became worse in 2009. 38 % of Czechs see as worsened living material conditions of their households. Two thirds of respondents feel that financial crisis afflicted their household and similar share see as affected their job as well. 50 % see the reaction of Czech government to present situation as bad, 33 % expressed opposite view.

Czech Public Opinion on Government Spending on Social Policy

In November 2009, Public Opinion Research Centre enquired about spending on social policy. Czechs should express their view about government spending on unemployment, housing, health care, child allowances, retirement pensions, disability benefits, schools and education. Another question was focused on pensions reform.

Czech Public Opinion on Family Policy

In November 2009, Czech population was asked some questions about the family policy. First, there was a general question to what extent the government cares about families with small children. Second, people should say, which of the family policy instruments they appreciate. In fact, all instruments were supported, but most of the people agreed with flexible working time or part-time jobs for parents of small children, with tax cut for these people and the increasing number of kindergartens.

Citizens on Some Questions of Social Policy

In November 2009, Public Opinion Research Centre's survey focused on social policy. People were asked, how much they think the government cares about the social situation of citizens, and how much the citizens care about it themselves. Czechs also should express their view about misusing of social security system in Czech Republic.

Citizens on Economic Situation of Their Households and on Some Social Conditions in the CR

In October survey CVVM examined how Czech citizens see the financial situation of their households. They evaluated whether it is difficult to manage with their earnings, but also talked about attitudinal feeling of poverty. The survey also investigated whether it is difficult to meet some life requirements such as foodstuff, clothes and shoes, housing, water and energy, furniture, common non-food products, cultural and sport activities, health care and education.
