Citizens on U.S. Anti-Missile Radar Base in Czech Republic - November 2008
According to November survey of CVVM SOÚ AV ČR 66 % of Czech citizens did not agree with planned deployment of U.S. anti-missile radar in Czech Republic, on the other hand 28 % of respondents would approve it. 71 % respondents expressed their opinion that this question should be decided in a referendum, 22 % of Czechs disagreed with holding a plebiscite in this matter. People who are against the referendum are for the most part supporters of idea to locate the U.
Evaluation of Relations with Some Countries
In November survey people have evaluated relations of Czech Republic with some neighbouring or globally most important countries: Slovakia (94 % good / 4 % bad), Poland (89 % / 6 %), USA (87 % / 9 %), Germany (87 % / 11 %), UK (83 % / 6 %), France (83 % / 8 %), Hungary (83 % / 7 %), Austria (67 %, 29 %), Russia (39 % / 52 %) and China (37 % / 40 %).
The elections to the regional councils
In november 2008 CVVM investigated how people voted in elections to the regional councils. This year more people came to vote because of their dissatisfaction compared to the elections to the Chamber of deputies in 2006 (10 % of informants in 2006 compared to 20 % in 2008). Two thirds of disatisfied voters voted for Czech Social Democratic Party and contributed to its victory in the elections.
Citizens about the Presidency to the European Union
In November survey the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on topic of the presidency of the European Union. The Czech Republic will assume the presidency of the EU on 1 January 2009. The respondents were asked if they are interested in this topic or if they have a lot of informations about the presidency. The survey also investigated citizens’ evaluation of the Czech Republic’s preparations for the presidency.

In November 2008 within the regular survey CVVM SOÚ AV ČR, v.v.i., questioned respondents about their confidence in constitutional institutions. In this month there was a question about their trust to Chambers of Parliament, Government, President, Local and Regional Councils.
As a part of the CVVM surveys there is a question about public satisfaction with current political situation in the Czech Republic.
Party Preferences and Voting Model in November 2008
In November survey CVVM investigated how people trust to political Parties and whether they are willing to take part in elections to Chamber of Deputies. In the press release there are two different types of information : Party preference and a model of voting behaviour.
Party preferences give us information about public sympathy with political Parties in the group of citizens who have voting right and there is also included a part of citizens who will not take part in elections or they do not knot who to vote for.
Popularity of political ideologies
In october 2008 CVVM investigated what are the most popular political ideologies among poeple in Czech republic. Most of informants have choosen social democracy (27 %), followed by liberal (17 %) and conservative (11 %) ideology. Another were ecological approach to politics (10 %), christian democracy (9 %), socialistic (6 %) and communistic (5 %) ideology.

Reasons for joining political parties
In October 2008 the CVVM regular survey focused on questions about reasons for joining political parties. Czechs should also evaluate, whether particular reasons are right or wrong when somebody wants to participate on public life. Afterwards, people were asked, whether they have thought about membership in some political party in the last ten years.
