In its January survey Public Opinion Research Centre included a block of questions related to activities of the Czech Academy of Sciences. It was explored trust in this institution, public ideas about the content of its work and opinion on the usefulness of the Academy of Sciences. One question was also dedicated to whether it is modern or outdated scientific institution. We also asked whether citizens think that the Academy of Sciences should be presented through some popular-scientific activities and whether they recently came across such activity. Last but not least we were interested in the public opinion on the funding of this institution from the state budget.

As a part of its January research Public Opinion Research Centre interviewees were asked several questions regarding their views on scientific research. Questions were focused on whether the Czech citizens are interested in results of scientific research, what are their views on the presentation of Czech science toward public and whether they think that scientific results should be usable in practice. In this research was also included a battery of statements which examined what goals science should have.

In January 2016 Public Opinion Research Centre included a block of questions connected to quality of the Czech science and young Czech scientists leaving abroad from the Czech Republic.  Next topic focuses on conditions of funding of the Czech science from private and state budget.

In January 2016 the Public Opinion Research Centre included into its regular survey a few questions concerning so-called Islamic State and development in Ukraine.

In January 2016 Public Opinion Research Centre carried out a survey about NATO. Within the project were examined satisfaction with membership in NATO and judgments about the consequences of membership in NATO.

In January 2016, the Public Opinion Research Centre investigated views on the problem of indebtment. We surveyed the opinion on the level of indebtment among the Czech citizens and on the level of indebtment of the Czech state. With regard to these two fields of indebtment, we also asked questions about how serious a problem the current level of indebtment poses to the Czech people.

In January 2016 Public Opinion Research Centre carried out a survey about debts and loans. In this press release are published attitudes of Czech citizens to debts of common people. In this text there are also published attitudes of Czechs to individual debts, e.g. acceptability of loans for real estate, education, consumption, car, holidays or for starting a business. Another question was focused on importance of financial resources for unexpected expenses and difficulties with the repayment of debts.

In January 2016 Public Opinion Research Centre included a blok of questions connected to accepting  refugees from countries affected by military conflicts. Questions focused mainly on opinion towards accepting refugees from concrete regions (Ukraine, Middle East and North Africa), concern with the current situation around  refugees and  perception of the situation as a security threat. Less than a third (30%) of people believe that for the income of their household they can buy or pay less than a year ago, 58% believe that the real income of their households is about the same as a year before, and 12% of respondents said that their real income during the last year has increased.
