Government expenditure on social policy in general and in partial areas is evaluated as rather low than high. The exception is unemployment benefit, where number of those who consider government expenditure as low (26 %) is little bit lower than number of those who suppose it to be high (29 %) or who find it adequate (33 %). According to 42 % of respondents the government takes care of social situation in appropriate way while 45 % of respondents find the Government's focus on social situation of citizens too low and 7 % of respondents suppose it to be exaggerated.

In December survey there were included some questions focused on respondents´ relationship to Christmas. Survey showed us that three querters of Czechs are looking forward to Christmas, opposite feeling is shared by every tenth Czech citizen. Almost all respondents give presents to their close family or friends, only 3 % of people do not give presents for anybody. 94 % of respondents suppose Christmas to be family feast, 85 % of addressed citizens keep some customs and traditions.

Infant Jesus is by far the most popular figure related to distribution of presents within the Czech society. Traditional Czech "gift-bearers", i.e. Infant Jesus or St. Nicholas with the Angel and the Devil prevail vastly in popularity over imported figures of Grandpa Frost and Santa Claus.

In December survey CVVM investigated how people trust to political Parties and whether they are willing to take part in elections to Chamber of Deputies. In the press release there are two different types of information : Party preference and a model of voting behaviour.

Party preferences give us information about public sympathy with political Parties in the group of citizens who have voting right and there is also included a part of citizens who will not take part in elections or they do not knot who to vote for.

In CVVM survey which was made within project Our society 2006 in December 2006 we asked our respondents a question whether they trust to constitutional institutions. Question about public confidence in constitutional institutions is regular part of CVVM surveys which help us to monitor public confidence during time. In the long term president of our country has been the most trustworthy Czech constitutional institution.

In November survey CVVM also asked respondents some questions about Benes decrees.

Currently more than a half of respondents share the opinion that Benes Decrees should continue to be in force, 13 % stood up for their cancellation, and more than a third (34 %) did not answer this question..

Expulsion of Sudet-German is considered to have been just by a half respondents, on the other hand a total of 32 % think it unjust.

As a part of November survey there were also some questions focused on respondents´ attitude to the division of Czechoslovakia and following establishment of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic on 1. January 1993 and to relationships between citizens from those republics. Only a quarter of respondents (25 %) agreed with division of Czechoslovakia 13 years ago on contrary more than a half of respondents (56 %) did not agreed with it.

About three fifths of citizens perceive Senate as useless institution, which establishment was wasting of money, on contrary more than a fourth of Czech population do not agree with it. More than a half of Czech citizens agree with statement that establishment of the Senate was supported by political parties just to fortify their position, on the other hand only a quarter of respondents denied that.

November survey CVVM SOÚ AV ČR investigated public opinions about division of men´s and women´s roles in families. Both partners should share worries about education, budget, hobbies and contacts. Career building is supposed to belong to men´s activities or activities of both partners, but mainly it should belong to a men´s role. On the other hand cooking is considered as women´s domain. Looking after children, shopping and cleaning are activities that should be shared by both partners, which is opinion of about half of respondents.

From all social conditions included in the survey people evaluate mostly positively only the accessibility of education (79 % positively, 14 % critically) and the health care (65 % : 32 %). All other monitored areas of social conditions - i.e. a chance to get a flat (21 % positively, 74 % critically), financial situation to start a family with children (23 % : 72 %), social security for the elderly (17 % : 71 %), life conditions for the handicapped (19 % : 61 %) and a chance to get a job (31 % : 65 %) - are evaluated largely critically.
