Evaluation of reaction of state and its institutions to COVID-19 epidemic and compliance with measures against the spread of coronavirus - Our society - special - April 2021

In connection with the spread of coronavirus, the Czech public evaluates the most positively the work of medics, the Fire Rescue Service, the army and the police, while it is the most critical is to the work of the Government of the Czech Republic. The vast majority of the Czech public believes that compliance with existing measures against the spread of coronavirus should be monitored (70%), while only a quarter (25%) have the opposite opinion.

COVID-19, Financial Situation of Households and Distance Learning - Our Society - Special - April 2021

Less than two thirds of respondents (64%) said that their household incomes remained the same at the time of COVID, more than a quarter (27%) said they had fallen, of which 9% said significantly. In 8% of households, income increased. The resulting findings do not change significantly during the pandemic.

In its research, the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on the coronavirus crisis and citizens' experiences with it. In April more than four-fifths (82%) of Czech citizens over the age of 18 were interested in the situation regarding the new coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Almost two-fifths (37%) of respondents said they had suspected of having COVID-19, based on symptoms.

Evaluation of State Response to COVID-19 Epidemic - Our Society - Special - February 2021

Only a relative majority of Czech citizens, at a level of just over two-fifths, evaluate what the Czech state has done against the spread of coronavirus as appropriate, and a little more than a third consider measures to support the economy to be appropriate.

Compared to December 2020, the assessment of the state's response to the pandemic has deteriorated significantly, especially when assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of measures against the spread of coronavirus.

The New Coronavirus - concerns, media, information and narratives - Our Society - February 2021

In connection with the spread of a new type of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, more than four-fifths of Czech citizens over the age of 18 fear limited health care restrictions for patients with diseases other than COVID-19 (85%), deteriorating economic situation in the Czech Republic (83%) and the health of their loved ones (81%). Compared to the last survey in December 2020, citizens' concerns about the insufficient capacity of hospitals, which were feared by approximately two-thirds (67%) of the population in February, have risen significantly, by twenty percentage points.

Czech Public about Vaccination, including Vaccination against COVID-19 - Our Society - Special - February 2021

In February Public Opinion Research Centre focused on vaccination. Four-fifths (80%) of Czech citizens agreed that vaccination is a guarantee that some dangerous diseases will not spread in our country. Approximately three-fifths of respondents (59%) expressed willingness to be vaccinated against COVID-19. About a third (33%) of respondents took a negative attitude towards vaccination against COVID-19.

The majority of six tenths of Czech citizens consider what the Czech state has done against the spread of coronavirus to be appropriate, and two fifths consider measures to support the economy to be appropriate.

The work of most institutions and groups in relation to the spread of coronavirus is assessed favorably, with criticism prevailing in relation to the government, media, the EU and the WHO.

Looking Back on the Regional Elections - Our Society - Special - November 2020

In its November special survey, the Public Opinion Research Centre returned to the October 2020 regional elections. Specifically, the survey investigated what was the main topic of the elections for the respondents, whether they participated in the elections, what was the reason for their participation or non-participation, when they had decided which party to vote for and why, and how are they satisfied with the election results.
