Popularity of Top Politicians - September 2018

In September 2018 the Public Opinion Researcch Centre investigated whether respondents trust to selected top politicians. They were given a list with 29 names of top politicians. In a survey there were included names of membres of government, president, chairmen of Senate and Chamber of Deputies, chairmen of parliamentary clubs of political parties in the Chamber of Deputies, chairman of Constitutional Court, the governor of the Czech National Bank, and ombudsman.

Citizens on Opportunities to Receive Education – September 2018

In the opinion poll carried out in September 2018 by the Public Opinion Research Centre, questions regarding the opportunities to receive education were included.

More specifically, the questionnaire asked surveyors about their opinions towards the possibility to gain education based on one’s abilities – 74% of respondents expressed their opinion that everybody has a chance to achieve education according to his or her abilities. Moreover, respondents had to answer a question, what circumstances and personal aspects influence educational background – respondents often suppose diligence, personal abilities and desire for education to be important, when trying to get higher education. Finally, the questionnaire examined views on the creation of special schools in compulsory nine-year basic educational stage – in all cases a majority of respondents supported the creation of the considered types of school.

Confidence in constitutional institutions and satisfaction with political situation in September 2018

In September 2018 within the regular survey CVVM SOÚ AV ČR, v.v.i., questioned respondents about their confidence in constitutional institutions. In this month there was a question about their trust to the Chambers of Parliament, the President, the Government, and Local and Regional Councils.

Evaluation of the Czech education system – September 2018

In the opinion poll carried out in September 2018 by the Public Opinion Research Centre, questions regarding the Czech education system were included. More specifically, the questionnaire asked surveyors about their opinions towards the quality of education in different types of schools and towards the possible improvement of specific skills during their own educational years.

Likely voter model in September 2018

In a survey conducted by Public Opinion Research Centre in September 2018, we investigated how people trust to political Parties and whether they are willing to take part in elections to the Chamber of Deputies. In the press release there are two different types of information: the likely voter model and the party preferences.

The likely voter model indicates anticipated result of hypothetical elections to the Chamber of Deputies in the time of conducting the survey.

The party preferences give us information about public sympathy for political parties in the group of citizens who have voting right and there is also included a part of citizens who will not take part in elections or they do not know who to vote for.

Czechs Talk about Expenditure On and Savings Of Energy Utilities, Heat and Water in Their Households – May 2018

In May 2018, the Our Society survey series (Naše společnost) included an extra battery of questions about expenditure on and savings of energy utilities, heat and water in households. We examined whether people are acquainted with the expenditure on energy utilities, heat and water in their households, whether they find it easy or difficult to cover that expenditure, whether they are interested in technologies for a more economic management of energy utilities, heat and water, whether they have invested in these technologies over the past five years or are at least considering such an investment, whether they have ever drawn grants from programmes to support the installation of these technologies in households, and whether they decide take energy class into consideration when purchasing appliances.

Czech Public Opinion on Nuclear Energy – May 2018

In its May 2018 survey, the Our Society series included a battery of questions on issues of nuclear energy. The survey examined public opinion about whether the proportion of nuclear energy in electricity production should increase or decrease in future, what people think about completing the third and fourth units of the Temelín Nuclear Power Station (TNPS), whether or not they are concerned about the use of nuclear energy in the country, and whether they have confidence in the government’s decisions about the development of nuclear energy.

Public on Energy Policy, Development of Electricity Consumption, and Possibility to Substitute Conventional Resources in Energy Production - May 2018

In the May survey the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on the issue of energetics. The survey investigated interest in energy policy of the Czech Republic and its evaluation by citizens. It also dealt with a question of the future development of electricity consumption in the country, and whether or not it is possible to replace the production of electricity from conventional sources with alternative sources.

Self-Classification on the Left-Right Scale of Political Orientation - June 2018

In the June survey the Public Opinion Research Centre gave all respondents a question that at eleven-point scale measures the left-right political orientation: "In politics, people sometimes talk about right and left. Where would you place yourself ranked on this scale?"

Czech public opinion on the gluten-free diet – June 2018

In June 2018 Public Opinion Research Centre included a block of questions concerning the awareness and opinions of the Czech public about the gluten-free diet.

According to research, the majority of the Czech public has heard about the gluten-free diet and has some awareness of what it is about (88%). In contrast, 12% of respondents have not heard about this diet.

Only 4% of people in the Czech Republic is on the gluten-free diet (2% for health reasons and 2% of their decision).

Throwing Away Fruit and Vegetables with Imperfections as a Form of Food Waste – June 2018

As a part of its June survey, CVVM asked respondents several questions about food and, above all, food waste. Part of this block was constituted of questions dedicated to the purchase of visually not quite perfect fruit and vegetables. The respondents were specifically expressing what foods they would choose if they had possibility to choose from - whether perfect or less perfect and whether they would even think about the appearance of the selected vegetable or fruit. They also chose the reasons that would lead them to this choice. One of the questions was also focused on who, according to the respondents, decides which fruit and vegetables are going to get into the counter at the shops. The last point was respondents´ estimation of wasted food share due to visual imperfections towards total production.

According to results of the research, Czech consumers would prefer visually perfect fruit and vegetables before those with imperfections. This type of food have elected 60 % of respondents. Among possible reasons that lead them to prefer perfect food, people chose mainly easier cutting and cleaning. Many respondents also think that buying visually perfect food is commonly normal.
