Citizens satisfaction with living conditions at their place of residence

Within April survey CVVM investigated how were informants satisfied with living conditions at their place of residence. Two thirds of informants were satisfied at all, one quarter wasn‘t satisfied nor dissatisfied and only 7 % were dissatisfied at all.

Informants were also asked to evaluate following particular conditions influencing the standard of living. People were most satisfied with installation of gas, electricity, water and with sewerage (92 % “certainly + rather satisfied”) and 87 % were satisfied with disposal of municipal waste.

The Czech public about smoking

In february survey made by CVVM there were some questions about public attitudes to smoking. The respondents were asked to say if and how many cigarettes they smoke. They were also asked to rate their personal attitude toward the prohibition of smoking in public places or in the restaurants. CVVM could compare results of public opinion surveys in Hungary and Slovakia.

Beer Consumption in Czech Republic in 2007

CVVM in September survey investigated how Czech citizens evaluate the quality of education on all school levels. Part of press information is also comparison of actual results with findings from previous surveys. Then Czechs evaluated, which from the following characteristics (knowledge, independence, confidence, orientation in society, discipline, moral values) are best evolved by particular types of schools.

What is educational background influenced by?

In September survey approximately a two thirds of respondents expressed their opinion that everybody has a chance to get such education according to his or her abilities.. Then respondents had to answer a question, what circumstances and various facts influence educational background. Respondents often suppose human abilities and diligence to be important, when trying to get higher education. In other part of survey respondents had to talk about their own educational background.

Citizens´ satisfaction with living conditions close to their home

Within April survey CVVM investigated how respondents are satisfied with living conditions close to their home. Respondents were also asked to evaluate following living conditions close to their home: cleaning of the streets; waste disposal; gas, electricity and water installation and canalization; road conditions; security; job opportunity; level of wages in this area, level of schools and of health care; level of shops and services, environment, cultural and sport opportunities, places where to relax; chance to have a meal for reasonable prices, and good system of public transport.

Relationship to traditions

In December survey, there was included a question focused on respondents´relationship to traditions. They talked about what concrete kinds of traditions are significant for them. The answers represented different types of traditions – national, religious and familial and folk ones. The survey showed that more than a half of Czechs consider traditions as important, excepting the „attendance of divine services“.
