Confidence in constitutional institutions and satisfaction with political situation in April 2011

In April 2011 within the regular survey CVVM SOÚ AV ČR, v.v.i., questioned respondents about their confidence in constitutional institutions. In this month there was a question about their trust to Chambers of Parliament, Government, President, Local and Regional Councils.

As a part of the CVVM surveys there is a question about public satisfaction with current political situation in the Czech Republic.

Attitudes of Czech Public Towards Employment of Foreigners - March 2011

March survey has dealt with a topic of employment of foreigners in Czech Republic. 55 % of Czechs think it is right to employ foreigners, 39 % express the opposite view. Support to employment of foreigners grows with degree of completed education and also with improving evaluation of living standard of respondent's household.

Party Preferences and Voting Model in April 2011

In April survey CVVM investigated how people trust to political Parties and whether they are willing to take part in elections to Chamber of Deputies. In the press release there are two different types of information: Party preference and a model of voting behaviour.

Party preferences give us information about public sympathy with political Parties in the group of citizens who have voting right and there is also included a part of citizens who will not take part in elections or they do not knot who to vote for.

Czech Public's Attitudes to Foreigners - March 2011

In March survey CVVM investigated Czech public's views with regard to foreigners who live in the long term or permanently in Czech Republic. 79% of Czechs think that incomers should have had the right to stay here in the long term under some conditions, 8% would support this right with no restricting conditions and 10% said that foreigners should not have any right to stay in the long term in the Czech Republic.

Relation to Different National Groups Living in the Czech Republic - March 2011

In March 2011 CVVM investigated attitudes of Czech public to 15 national groups that are living in the Czech Republic in significant number. The most positive relation was observed to Slovaks, Poles, Greeks, Jews and Germans, the worst relation have Czechs to Roma people.

Citizens on Economic Situation of the Czech Republic and Living Standard of Their Households - March 2011

According to the March survey of CVVM, 56% of people evaluate the current economic situation in the Czech Republic as bad, 32% view it as neither good nor bad and 10% consider it to be good. 41% of Czechs evaluate the living standard of their household as good, 18% consider it to be bad, and 41% characterize it as neither good, nor bad.

Political culture - March 2011

Czech citizens are critical when talking about political culture of most of politically active people. The exception are members of Municipal Councils and members of Regional Councils. In those cases prevails positively evaluation (60/30 % Municipal and 41/38 % Regional Councils). The worst evaluation got political culture of members of Chamber of Deputy (17/81 %).

According to major part of czech citizens (79 %) arguments, problems and scandals are common and occur in other democracies, although major part of addressed respondents (77 %) expressed their opinion that these argumentations and scandals discredit us abroad.

Citizens on Events in the Middle East and Northern Africa - March 2011

According to the March survey of the Public Opinion Research Centre, 53% of Czech citizens are interested in current events in the Middle East and Northern Africa. One third (33%) of Czech public thinks that international community should participate more actively in solving of current situation in Arab countries where people rose up in protest against authoritarian regimes, a half (51%) of Czechs opposes the idea of external meddling into current events there.
