What is educational background influenced by?

Everybody has chance to get such education according to his/her abilities. In September survey this statement was agreed by more than a half of respondents (47 % rather agreed, 12 % definitely agreed). In the following question respondents had to evaluace influence of various circumstances and eventualities on educational background. Own abilities and diligence were considered as most important (95 % of answers – definitely important and rather important).

Level of education in the Czech Republic

In the survey on evaluation of level of education according the type of institution the positive evaluation prevailed. The highest level of education is according the respondents at grammar schools (23% mentioned the level of education as a „very good“, 53% mentioned the level of education as a „rather good“), at primary schools (74% positive answers, when 12% of them mentioned the answer „very good“) and at universities.

Job satisfaction

Two thirds of Czech employees are satisfied with their jobs. On the other hand 3 out of 10 economically active Czechs are neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with their jobs, job dissatisfaction was expressed only by 5% of economically active citizens. Almost 8 out of 10 economically active respondents are satisfied with using their professional skills at work, with interpersonal relationships at workplace, with job attractivity and with working hours/shifts.

Public opinion on possible locating of an U.S. antimissile defense base in Czech Republic and public attitudes to U.S. foreign policy and role of the USA in the world

More than three fifths (62 %) of czech citizens do not agree with locating of an U.S. anti-missile defense base in Czech Republic, on the other hand almost a quarter (24 %) of respondents would agree with it. More than three quarters (78 %) of respondents expressed their opinion that this question should be decided in a referendum, 14 % of Czech people are against holding a referendum in this question, while the part of people who are against holding a referendum are almost all supporters of locating of the U.

What would we do if we lost our job?

Seven out 10 economically active citizens (69 %) would try to look for concrete job in case they lost their job, almost a quarter of working respondents (28%) would be willing to accept any job in such situation. In September 2006 number of those who would accept any job they were offered was the lowest since year 2003 when this question was used for the first time. Work demands such as work training and qualification, work overtime or faster pace of work are supposed to be acceptable when taking up a job.

Unemployment from public opinion view

As a part of September survey carried out by CVVM SOÚ AV ČR there were some questions focused on unemployment. Unemployment in the Czech Republic is supposed to be too high by almost 6 out of 10 Czech citizens (58%) older 15 years, a third of respondents (35%) consider it as adequate and only 1 % of respondents think the level of unemployment is too low. Almost a half of Czech public (47%) think that level of unemployment will remain unchanged.

In CVVM survey which was made within project Our society 2006 in September 2006 we asked our respondents a question whether they trust to constitutional institutions. Question about public confidence in constitutional institutions is regular part of CVVM surveys which help us to monitor public confidence during time.

Party preferences in September 2006

In September survey CVVM investigated how people trust to political Parties and whether they are willing to take part in elections to Chamber of Deputies. In the press release there are two different types of information : Party preference and a model of voting behaviour.

Party preferences give us information about public sympathy with political Parties in the group of citizens who have voting right and there is also included a part of citizens who will not take part in elections or they do not knot who to vote for.

How did Czechs vote?

Press conference gave us information about first results of survey that was realized after the elections to the Chamber of Deputies by the Institute of Sociology of Academy of Sciences. Specialized academic post-election survey was never executed and results of other surveys were seldom put together by scientists.Post-election survey was focused on electoral behaviour, its stability and changes over time and its impact on formation of political representation.

Evaluation of environment protection

In May survey CVVM focused on questions concerning environment. Respondents had to evaluate how some enchosen state institutions and ecological organizations take care of environment. The best evaluated were ecological organizations and local councils. Parliament was the the worst evaluated. Question, whether Czech Republic sufficiently cares about environment , has divided our respondents into two almost same parts.

Ecological behaviour

In May 2006 CVVM investigated topic – environment. 41% of respondents take always dangerous waste to special enchosen places and other 30 % does it often. Same number of respondents sort domestic waste (39% always and 36% often). The number of people, who exceptionally or never buy ecological friendly products, lower number of drives because of enviroment protection and save energies and water because of nature protection, prevails.
