In September 2016 the Public Opinion Research Centre examined views of the Czech public on the creation of special schools in compulsory nine-year basic education and views on whether the children with physical or mental disabilities, children from poor or vice versa from wealthy families, children of foreign nationals, Roma children and gifted children should be educated in mainstream classes.

Attitudes of the Czech society towards an amendment of a law about Czech educational system, higher education fees and standardized secondary school graduation tests – September 2016

In September, the Public Opinion Research Centre of the Academy of Sciences asked a set of questions related to attitudes of the Czech citizens towards amendment of a law about Czech educational system. Simultaneously, the Public Opinion Research Centre probed opinions about standardized secondary school graduation tests and fees for the higher education. The results suggest that the public approves most of the amendments. The proposition about the higher education fees was rejected by most of the respondents like in previous years. Contrary, the standardized secondary school graduation tests are embraced by a slight majority of population.

Czech public about perfect and imperfect crops purchase – June 2016

In June 2016 Public Opinion Research Centre included a block of questions connected to purchase of fruits and vegetables with imperfect appearance. Respondents specifically expressed whether they would buy perfect or less perfect vegetables or fruits. Further, they chose the main reason for this choice. The last point was then the estimate of the proportion of discarded food to visual imperfections in relation to total production.

Czech public awareness about the gluten-free diet – June 2016

In June 2016 Public Opinion Research Centre included a block of questions connected to the consumption of foods containing gluten. Citizens express whether they or someone in their neighborhood has a gluten intolerance and also whether respondents or someone close to them follows the gluten-free diet.

Food waste as a social problem - June 2016

In June 2016 Public Opinion Research Centre AV ČR, v.v.i., examined the attitudes and behaviors declared by the Czech public with regard to the basic dimensions of the issue of food wastage: (1.) The urgency of the problem and the reasons that motivate individuals to reduce food waste. (2.) The estimated amount of food thrown away in the household and the reasons that lead to food wastage. (3.) The Organization of purchasing and its impact on waste. These findings are then set into the context of international comparisons, especially with Britain and the United States.

Attitude of Czech Public to genetically modified food - June 2016

In June 2016 Public Opinion Research Centre included a block of questions connected to genetically modified food. Specifically, it was investigated whether respondents are familiar with the issue. Respondents commented their interest in genetically modified food. Subsequently, how often respondents monitor data on genetically modifying food or product ingredients on product labels. The last part of the block was a set of statements regarding the safety of eating such food, scientific knowledge of their impact on human health and the buying genetically modified food. The report also offers some comparison of the results of research by the Pew Research Centre in the US.

Public Opinion on the Czech Academy of Sciences and its Founding - January 2016

In its January survey Public Opinion Research Centre included a block of questions related to activities of the Czech Academy of Sciences. It was explored trust in this institution, public ideas about the content of its work and opinion on the usefulness of the Academy of Sciences. One question was also dedicated to whether it is modern or outdated scientific institution. We also asked whether citizens think that the Academy of Sciences should be presented through some popular-scientific activities and whether they recently came across such activity. Last but not least we were interested in the public opinion on the funding of this institution from the state budget.

Public Opinion on Scientific Research - January 2016

As a part of its January research Public Opinion Research Centre interviewees were asked several questions regarding their views on scientific research. Questions were focused on whether the Czech citizens are interested in results of scientific research, what are their views on the presentation of Czech science toward public and whether they think that scientific results should be usable in practice. In this research was also included a battery of statements which examined what goals science should have.
